
Rabbi Moshe Spalter was born and raised in San Jose, Costa Rica, where his parents established and lead a Chabad Jewish center there. He studied in Rabbinical schools in the US, Argentina and Israel. After completing his studies, he was ordained as a Rabbi by Rabbi Zalman Nechemia Goldberg, Chief Justice of the Rabbinical High Court in Jerusalem.
As an intern Rabbi, he provided educational programs and holiday events for Jews in the Virgin Islands, St. Martin, Rochester, Minnesota and other remote cities across the country. Rabbi Spalter has also visited and provided for the spiritual needs of Jewish inmates in over 30 correctional facilities across Maryland, Virginia and West Virgina.
Mrs. Sarah Spalter (nee Schanowitz) grew up in Chicago, IL. Throughout high school, she volunteered at North Suburban Chabad Hebrew School and dedicated her summers to Jewish community service in Bethesda, MD, Birmingham, AL, Plano, TX, and Val-David, QC, Canada. After graduationing high school, she spent a year in Israel, studying at the Beth Chana Teachers Seminary. She then spent several years teaching elementary school and Hebrew School.
The Spalters, along with their daughter Mussia and son Mendel, are passionate about sharing the beauty of Judaism with others, and are excited to be directing Chabad of Lake Forest and Lake Bluff.
